Rescue of Aztec Maiden unsuccessful?

The tugs are the entire morning trying to get the bow of the Aztec Maiden run to the sea and keep her steady. Hereby broke the hawser of the tugboat of the Coast Guard. This made it uncertain whether the ship could be pulled to sea. During high tide around 2.00 pm, the Aztec Maiden was still stuck. When the tug of the Coast Guard was fastened another towing cable the tugboats succeeded around 5.00 pm. The KNRM kept an eye on things.

Grounded on the Dutch Coast.

Philippine cargo ship MV Aztec Maiden  (length 155 m, width 24 m) ran ashore the coast on Wijk aan Zee with engine failure. The captain tried to anchor, but could not prevent the ship run aground the coast. The lifeboat was quickly on the spot but could not offer more help. On Friday at high tide two tugs from Svitzer tried to pull the vessel off the sandbank, without results. Saturday the salvage company Svitzer used a tug and a coast guard tug Levoli Black. At 5.00 pm the tugs managed to pull the ship free.
